I am a retired mental health professional. A number of years ago, 2017 or 2018, a friend of mine, who happens to be a lesbian, and younger than me, (and is also a MH professional), was working in a prison, and went to bat for one of the prisoners, a small and "feminine" male, to be moved into a female prison. I tried to talk her out of this. I mentioned that if even a few trans-identified males succeeded in getting into female prisons, that it would open a floodgate. I said that female prisoners do not deserve to be housed with any kind of males. I argued that women deserve to have their own spaces, free of men; surely, as a lesbian, she could understand the importance of this; she said she had "no dog in this fight". She overruled me, and our friendship suffered. Over the years, I tried to talk to her several more times about the dangers of blindly accepting trans ideology, but she shut me down every time. Well today, out of the blue, she sent me an apology. She said she no longer recognises the left-wing community. She said the trans cult has run off the rails. She said she has been thinking about this for a long time now, and that I was right; women do deserve privacy and dignity. To say I was surprised is an understatement. Her apology brought tears to my eyes. I wanted to pass this story on; I think there will be many more former trans handmaidens who eventually come to their senses.
I think the shark boots sound way cooler and I’m practical but not really GNC. I swear I start to think the seventies and eighties were a halcyon period for children. We all wore jeans and t shirts from Sears girl and boy alike. One of my friends wore her brothers hand-me-down tough skins and nobody thought a thing about it.
Yep. I was 90s and it was still pretty even, with more Disney Princess stuff but I was a tomboy and it was very easy to find clothes in the “girl” section for me. Just mentioned this in another comment but it sucks that if someone did come out with more neutral kids clothes again they’d probably just make it specifically for “trans/nb” kids and totally lose the plot
