It's Vice so of course the (TIF) reporter says that this is a tiny number of people who are just right wing shills who want to erase trans people.
However Cat gives a great interview, there is no sound logical way of arguing against her fair and reasonable points.
Although comments are closed and the Vice comes to the predictable conclusion that there is totally nothing wrong with performing medically unnecessary double mastectomies on young people because it's life saving care (complete with a quack doctor who stands by this view while also saying more research is needed), this dialogue is progress in the right direction. More detransitioners need to be heard, including those interviewed who don't believe in any restrictions (a lesbian who now has a beard and a deep voice and a young woman who detransitioned after learning that her bodily discomfort likely came from undiagnosed autism).
As dumb as it sounds before I peaked I did not know there were any detransitioners. I thought the diagnostic process was so rigorous that every person who transitioned was thrilled with the outcome.
Detransitioners go through so much it's understandable when they feel hurt, deceived and lied to. I can see that calling them mutilated or ruined after all they have been through is horrible and hurts their recovery. They have been through enough and do not deserve to be used as a political football.
At the same time, it is totally unethical to talk about so called trans healthcare without talking about the health and experiences of detransitioners.
