Need Advice or SupportDon't be silent! Tell Amnesty what we think of them lying about female oppression in Afghanistan!

Hi, Ovarittes! The most popular post published yesterday on Ovarit was the one complaining about Amnesty International replacing 'Afghan women and girls are oppressed for having been born female' with 'Afghan women and girls are oppressed for identifying as female'. Thankfully, it's possible to write a complaint to Amnesty (here).

I have decided to do so while still understanding that we have to, at least partially, use gender loonies' language to articulate our point without being immediately dismissed as 'conservatives and TERFs' unworthy of being heard out. This is what I have written (and bear in mind that I am not a native English speaker so I acknowledge that you may produce something better):

Dear Amnesty, I am disappointed with the recent change to your article 'Women in Afghanistan: The Back Story'. In its current version, it states that the oppression of women and girls in Afghanistan is rooted in them identifying as female, which couldn't be further from the truth given conservative, women-oppressing Afghans' lack of concern for a person's gender identity. Trans men cannot escape this discrimination by sincerely claiming a male gender identity. Neither can a cisgender woman do the same by pretending to identify as male. This idea that conservative Afghans prioritize gender identity over birth sex while selecting which human beings should be oppressed is American projection combined with cultural ignorance, akin to insisting that ancient Roman slaves were discriminated against on the grounds of identifying as slaves. My point is not to deny Afghan trans women's struggles but to specify that they are a matter of the society perceiving them as highly feminine gay men, not a kind of women, which is already known as homophobia and further reflects Afghans' general tendency to put sex over gender. I am asking for changing the article by specifying that misogyny in Afghanistan is experienced by those born female.

"Unfortunately, while at Tongariro she incurred a number of misconducts as a result of her sexual orientation and was returned to Auckland," Judge Blackie said.

What does that even mean? Was he in a woman's prison or just assaulting men in men's prison and blaming it on his gender identity?

The board also didn't know enough about the location her lawyer suggested she could be released to - a place that provides accommodation for transgender people....As a result, parole was declined.

I mean, he is incredibly dangerous. Your average trans person doesn't deserve to be around him either. Some people just can't be rehabilitated.

Stories like these peak men. I think it forces them to acknowledge a small fraction of the fear of attack that women feel for their whole lives.

No guy wants to think that after a few drinks, he’s walking home and then gets followed and raped by another man.

Also the pronouns in this story are ridiculous: “she dragged him”, “she raped him”……she is a he everybody. SHE IS a HE!

Everything I was going to say! I cannot STAND reading the misgendering. (The correct gender pronouns for a man are he, him, his - calling that "misgendering" is doublespeak. Argh!)
