Was watching a video of his talk with Pratap Bhanu Mehta, Here the exchange that's interesting, starting out at 59:50 https://youtu.be/zGYDTc3pp5o?si=Db1VrriKYvl1RHzb&t=3592
He is asked about wokeness and whether individual autonomy includes the right to self-definition/ identification. He specifically calls out trans and says "One of the big obstacles to an ever-expanding realm of individual autonomy is just human nature. You know, we're hitting right up against this in the whole transgender movement because there are a number of people who would say 'gender is completely voluntary, thats part of human autonomy, you can decide what gender youre gonna be'. In fact, in German law you can change it once a year without a doctor's note or anything. And I just think it's not gonna work. I think that you're already seeing a lot of evidence that policies based on this assumption that gender is purely an autonomous individual decision leads to bad outcomes."
He goes on to compare the trans stuff to a cult that separated babies from mothers and says "there is such a thing as human nature and people do have love for their children".
I was surprised to see a mainstream academic with his credentials say this stuff and be met with- agreement!! Even Pratap Bhanu Mehta agrees with him! I haven't seen anyone try to cancel him for his views on twitter either.
What do yall think? has anyone paid attention to what Fukuyama and other political scientists are saying about this stuff? do you think the tide is turning within academia?
Is that photo staged?
Yes, but still in bad taste
Wtf. Fuck this guy.
