Are politicians of both parties dealing with reality? Not according to the New York Times which is painting the bathroom issue as cruel.

“A man is a man, and a woman is a woman. And a man cannot become a woman,” Mr. Johnson said. “That said, I also believe that we treat everyone with dignity. We can do and believe all of those things at the same time.”

McBride:

“Every day Americans go to work with people who have life journeys different than their own and engage with them respectfully, I hope members of Congress can muster that same kindness,” [s]he wrote. “This is a blatant attempt from far right-wing extremists to distract from the fact that they have no real solutions to what Americans are facing.”

The kindness that will not be forthcoming from McBride is to allow women privacy and respect their concerns about safety.

I saw this on my phone last night while i was in a dive bar near me. They have a no politics rule, the bartender asked me after i reacted to it, and i told her without saying transgender. Just, a guy had been elected to congress and they are determining if he's allowed in the women's. I think she knew what i was talking about tho. 😅 She said she thought a lot would change. I'm not so sure, but i can hope.

McBride's not the only one. The bathroom is also used by staffers. How many of them are trans TIMs, given the Democrats' favouritism?

Good. I am glad this is a reality that they have to deal with now. Maybe they will all finally get off their asses regarding these issues.

The comments on that article are really disappointing. I thought people were waking up.

Yes the comments are primarily about how disgusting it is for women to want privacy. "How dare women think that S. McBride would hurt anyone." The standard whinge "why does anyone care what's in someones pants" although most TIMs wear a skirt in the women's bathroom.

TRAs and TIM almost always show up in full force to comment on these articles. I think the NYTimes will pretend now to be neutral but 90 percent of the guest opinion writers will be on the side of the vulnerable trans.
