I was never a fan of Life of Agony, and by that I mean I barely heard of them. But:

He's off hormones, and getting his breast implants removed. Once they're out, he says that he's dropping the name Mina.
He's very honest in this video that childhood transition should not be a thing, hormones don't work and destroy your health, he was never a woman and never can be a woman, etc. He hasn't come to terms with being paraphilic and autogynephilic yet, but this is just one video.
What he says he actually needed was quality therapy. He had an extremely difficult childhood. His mother died at the age of 22, when he was extremely young and he has no memories of her. He cites her loss as one of the reasons he wanted to be a woman, and I actually find that plausible. He can't have his mother so he will be her. Porn addiction is always involved, but I could view his mother's death as a factor, too. He was then raised by his heroin addict father. Caputo remembers pulling needles out of his father's legs as a child. That's how bad it was.
His dysphoria is really just an offshoot, a byproduct of his PTSD.
The comments for the video are all supportive. I wonder how many of his fans have waited for years for this creepy, disconcerting farce to end. Despite his difficulties growing up, he always had people that loved him and cared about him.
But look what the doctors did to him in the meantime. He blew up his life and stressed out his family/friends/band over this shit. For 13 fucking years. He looked ridiculously male the whole time. Steven Tyler could pass better as a woman just by rolling out of bed after getting drunk and fighting in a biker bar. Keith was put on hormones that jacked up his already unstable behavior, and eroded his health. He got breast implants that cost tens of thousands of dollars.
Think how many doctors he met with- there's always a team, right? This is something that TRAs always talk about when defending transition. Lots and lots of doctors and therefore lots and lots of safety checks. Counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, endocrinologists, plastic surgeons. For 13 years all these people didn't realize that Keith just needed therapy? 13 fucking years?
Keith is obviously one of those open-book people, not the strong, silent, dark horse types. He's very extroverted and talkative. There's no way his counselors and psychiatrists didn't know about his traumatic upbringing.
That this "team of experts" always drop the ball with TIPs, for years on end, really does prove that this is profit-driven medicine. It's not about actually helping anyone. It's about upgrading them as far as you can to collect as much as you can. Talk therapy is low-profit. Breast implants are high-profit.
Fuck the family and friends of the TIP you're treating- who cares if their lives are blown up in this? Hell, maybe through social contagion you'll get more clients! If not, oh well. You got a particularly fat cash cow here, with a rock star who can hopefully model transition to fans.
My biggest overall point is: no, a collective team of "experts" do not have your best interests at heart. No, it's not a safeguard. No, it doesn't mean you'll have someone who will catch that transition is a bad idea, and will bravely pipe up and say so. You can absolutely have an entire system working against you. They're all on the same page with the same objective, and the safeguards are all fake. Like a "Beware of Dog" sign when the house doesn't even have a dog.
Anyway, if Keith somehow comes across this:
Good for you. You'll be much happier working with your body rather than against it. The doctors had no right to take advantage of you and lead you into something physically damaging. They had no right to encourage discord with your loved ones, or tell you you could be something you're not. They had no right to take your money for the honor of committing this quackery.
I hope you continue to get better and I hope more TIPs detransition. The sooner they get off those hormones, the better for their long term physical health.
