QuestionWhose idea it was to separate the word " gender " from the word " genre " in English?

Gender and genre have the same root in the Latin " genus " meaning a " type " or a " kind " ...

In pretty much all Romance languages I know like French, Spanish, Portuguese etc there is no difference between " genre " and " gender " ... Alas the French language uses the word " genre " for both " gender " and well " genre " of course...

So who had this " magnificent " idea of separating them in English?
