SEGM gives a short summary of Sweden's just released new guidelines.

No more puberty blockers and hormones and focus on psychotherapy except for extreme cases.

This is a huge win! I hope to find an English version of the rapport so it will be easily shareable.

Liberals love to fantasize about the US becoming more like a Nordic country, maybe this will have some kind of impact on them. When Nordic countries are pumping the breaks on transitioning and far right religious states like Iran are forcing it on gay people, it becomes harder to argue that it's "so progressive" to sterilize gay children.

They don't really argue though, they mostly just shout and expect you to obey. They haven't needed any good arguments so far...

I don't mean the hardcore TRA's, the uber woke can't be reasoned with. I mean the rank and file democrats who are actual adults, not tumblr teens. They're just going with the flow because it's what they think a "good liberal" is supposed to do and they don't care enough about the issue to spend much time thinking about it. They can be peaked pretty easily.

Sounds hopeful, but there has already been a plethora of peaking material. So, idk. I feel like everyone is always saying whatever new issue is the one that will make people see, but it doesn't happen.

Bit worried "except for extreme cases" will turn into exactly what we have now - everything is an "extreme case".

That's how it was 15 years ago. Then "except for extreme cases" turned into "literally everyone who walks in the door and repeats the phrases they memorized from trans discord."

This is my concern as well. Now that trans is trendy, the ROGD kids just have to memorize a list they found on Reddit/Tumblr to get classified as an "extreme case".

I think the Swedish treatment protocol addresses ROGD as a real diagnosis you can give a young person.

Yes, exactly!!!

Sweden is realigning with the classic “Dutch Protocol” model, where only early childhood-onset gender dysphoria cases will be considered for hormones and surgeries.

WTF is "early childhood-onset gender dysphoria"???

Hopefully they just included that so people can't say they outright banned something?

I had what amounts to early onset GD. Insisted I was a boy, refused dolls and dresses, wanted the boys bike, the whole thing. Thank goddess no one put the idea of “trans” in my head. IMO the cost to value ratio is far too high, and I say this as a woman who’s now in my 50s and am still very gnc/masc/childfree/etc and am perfectly happy.

I had that too. I was even pretty dysphoric until i was like 23? Just thought that's something every masculine woman deals with.

WTF is "early childhood-onset gender dysphoria"???

Basically, it's extreme gender non-conforming behavior in childhood, accompanied by some sort of fantasy about being the opposite sex. Childhood gender dysphoria is strongly correlated with future homosexuality, and significantly more likely than not to resolve with puberty, so "treating" it with transition amounts to spaying the gay away.

spaying the gay away

Yes!!!

🤣😂🙂😐😶🤭😕😟😢😖😫😭

We already know ROGD kids are encouraging each other on social media to lie to doctors about having gender dysphoria their entire lives.

Wouldn't that just be a girl wanting to play with cars and saying "I want to me a fireMAN!"? Ugh.

Oh my God it's happening, this is so good. The medical community likes to have international consensus on treatment guidelines, countries that follow an aggressive affirmative model are now going to have to justify why...

I could tell the tide was changing based on what was coming from Sweden, especially with that documentary they did. I really hope that US follows their lead in making a turnabout on this insane affirmative model.

What documentary?

“Trans train.”

[–] ProxyMusic 13 points Edited

Just FYI: Trans Train was a multi-part documentary. With the 2021 follow-up, I believe there have been 3-4 reports in total.

The follow-up one released last year focused on the case of a 15-year-old girl on GnRH analogs aka "hormone blockers" since 11 who as a result has developed severe osteoporosis (like woman in her 80s), suffered several spinal fractures and weakened discs, is constantly in pain... Her "gender dysphoria" and social functioning have not improved and her overall mental health has gotten worse. Plus, the blockers have stunted her height, so she's shorter than she otherwise would have been, and way too short ever to have a chance of "passing" convincingly as a male. But throughout her (mis)treatment, no one on her medical or psychiatric teams thought to get her bone-density scans or to consider taking her off the "puberty blockers." In the documentary, the different medical specialists all blame one another and veer from saying "the other guy's to blame" and "no one's to blame."

The "Trans Train" documentaries focused heavily on the huge uptick that's occurred over the past decade in teenage girls presenting at Sweden's gender clinics - and how the rush to "affirm" and medically "transition" them has resulted in great harm and regret. But since since the original first two parts of "Trans Train" came out a couple of years ago, Sweden's most famous male transitioner, an "actress" who for 20 years served as the country's trans poster boygirl to illustrate how great and necessary medical "transition" ASAP is, has gone on Swedish national TV and to the print press to say that he now regrets altering his body, which he started doing about 22 years ago when he was 18.

Now he says he wishes he had realized back as an adolescent and young adult that he could just live his life as an "effeminate" gay man, an option that apparently that he never saw as a possibility due to the stereotypes and homophobia he grew up under the sway of - and which were only reinforced and made more extreme by the homophobic gender vendor industry that peddles sex stereotypes and homophobia along with poisons and surgical self-harm. He says that being what he has become - a gay man with a castrated, medically feminized body, dependent on artificial hormones, with (he feels) no options of reversing course - severely limits his chances of finding love and romantic life partner. Because he now has come to realize that other gay men are attracted to other men who look like men and are comfortable being men, which is the kind of man he himself is attracted to.

This guy's story is very sad, but since he is such a celebrity and has been used as the poster boy for transition in Sweden and Scandinavia, him speaking out seems to have had a very big impact. It's akin to a TIM on the scale of Jazz Jennings, Blaire White, Caitlyn Jenner or Laverne Coz in the US or Shon Faye, Joss Prior, Juno Dawson, Paris Lees in the UK saying they regret what they've done and have come to realize it's all a sham and a scam.

That middle-aged man describing how if a teenage girl feels uncomfortable with their breasts, they need to be cut off – doesn't everyone feel weirded out by their boobs at first? I was in total denial I even had breasts for years. (And isn't it middle-aged men who largely contribute to this discomfort?!)

Or was it just me and I should count my blessings this cult wasn't around then?

Very, very disturbing attitude from healthcare professionals.

This is great news. Hope it’s the canary in the coal mine
