I’m paying for things and I see a sign by the register. It’s offering part time employment for Joann’s. They have a few photos of models representing JoAnn employees. In the upper right corner they have a man, with short hair, with swoop bangs, makeup and black lipstick. Looking smug.
It’s next to two other women models.
Joanns is a fabric shop. It’s full of crafts. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a man employed at any Joann’s I’ve visited.
It’s annoying because modeling is a paid gig. A man got a spot which could have been a paid job for a woman.
I’m not saying men can’t get into sewing and crafts. My retired army grandfather is EXTREMELY crafty. He’s been making beaded jewelry for years. He’s talented. But let’s be honest.
The overwhelming majority of sewers, and crafters are women. So this is annoying. I don’t want to be reminded these skin walkers exist. Especially as I’ve been working all day on something and had blissfully forgotten of their existence until this point. Extremely annoying and disrespectful. Makeup does not make a woman.
To the lurkers who might post this on various subreddits to complain about us, I say HELLO!
