QuestionAnyone know why Michigan Framily Reunion was canceled this year?
Posted March 12, 2025 by Understanderson in GenderCritical

I was just looking at their site and it shows the 2025 event is canceled--no explanation. For anyone not in the know, Michigan Framily Reunion is the remnant of Michfest (Michigan Womyn's Music Festival), which was successfully hounded out of existence by TRAs in 2016 for refusing to allow TIMs to attend.

You know, I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on the shore of Lake Superior (for those who click on the link: it's pronounced KEE-win-aw), and I'd bet my bottom dollar that we would be able to have a Women's Festival up here without the TIMs giving us any shit. This area has a reputation for being a "crazy right wing militia bigots transphobes middle of nowhere HURRRRRR", so the TIMs and their ilk are afraid to visit. In reality, it's a lovely place to live, with incredible natural beauty, great schools, and good neighbors. Like, even our universities haven't been overrun by gender bullshit. It's conservative, yes, but Harris/Walz supporters had their signs out during the last election too, and folks were just like, "Welp, everyone's entitled to their opinion." It's still normal up here. But the rural kind of normal that wouldn't stand for a bunch of TIMs trying to shut down an event for ladies and kids.

I'm a teacher who gets the whole summer off, so if anyone is interested in getting something organized, I'm just saying...hit me up.

Edit: grammar and adding a link

I think it was just logistically very hard to do this year. I think the woman who runs it wasn’t up for it and funding and volunteers weren’t lining up in time. I’m hoping it will be back next year, I had a lot of fun at it a couple years ago. Check out Big Mouth Girl and RISE if you can!

There’s a similar event happening in the PNW this summer.

Would they actually exclude TiMs at a women’s event in the PNW??

Policies vary from group to group, but I imagine you can exclude men if it's hosted on private property.

Yes.
