QuestionWhich English nouns use the feminine plural form for mixed-sex groups?
So we all know that English and Romance languages almost always use the masculine plural when referring to mixed-sex groups. We use alumni instead of alumnae, for instance. Latinos instead of Latinas. Douchebags, not douchebaguettes. You get the picture.
However, that doesn't apply to hair-based descriptors. No one talks about fair-haired people as blonds, but blondes. Same with brunets vs. brunettes.
What other words default to the feminine form when describing a mixed-sex group of people? I'm curious because those are the only examples I can think of.
