RantI got permaban from a reddit sub
So on the Legend of Zelda sub, there was someone who said Hunter Schafer should play Zelda. I look into the comments and everyone say that's a great idea.
I couldn't help myself and posted that Zelda should be played by a woman. That's it. I didn't insult Mr Schafer in any way nor did I bring his very disturbing rape fetish. Yet I got a permaban from the sub within minutes.

They said the goblins in her books were based on Jews, especially their physical appearance. Like, does it occur to TRAs that only an antisemite would make that leap? I've come to really dislike how common nazi or holocaust comparisons have become within the context of political disagreements. It's trivialized one of the worst events in human history into an empty, meaningless insult.
A lot of non-Jewish leftists weirdly covet the Holocaust. They believe ancestral suffering will make them good, if not sacred, people. It angers them that Jews have this dubious gift of such an atrocity. What's sad is that Jews have largely been allies and very compassionate to other marginalized people, and this is how leftists all over the spectrum repay them. I couldn't blame them for withdrawing their allyship.
What pisses me off is that in the 90's and 2000's, Helen Webberly would have had to apologize for such an an asinine statement. How have people gotten so deranged about the Holocaust? I mean, I remember when I was a kid (2000s) and everyone knew that it was extremely serious. I heard Catholics compare abortion to the Holocaust, but other than that (and Catholics do genuinely think of abortion as literal murder), no one would ever dare to speak about it so flippantly as people do now. Now there are people saying it wasn’t even real at all, comparing it to men having to play in their own sports….. How have we forgotten how horrible and deadly serious of a topic this is??
Sadly, I think Holocaust denial is becoming more common as we get further away from it being within living memory. The few Holocaust survivors left are all over 90 years old (same with the WW2 vets who witnessed the horrors and liberated the camps). So fewer people have spoken to folks with first hand knowledge that its real.
Combine that with Palestine activism & antisemitism being trendy, and it's no surprise that Holocaust denial is becoming more common. I've seen a scary amount of young people parrot the belief that the Holocaust was exaggerated (or just outright falsified) to justify stealing Palestine from the Muslims and giving it away to European colonizer Jews.
But there are books and museums!! You can read about it from eyewitnesses and victims. You can see pictures!!

Yeah I think you’re right (unfortunately), I’d thought about how most people who were personally affected are gone now (including my own grandpa, who was in the air force!) but somehow didn’t even connect it to the current war situation and growing antisemitism
