ArticlePamela Paul's farewell post at the NYT
Posted April 3, 2025 by notsofreshfeeling in GenderCritical

Thought I would share Pamela Paul's last op-ed at the NYT (comments open if you'd like to thank her or wish her well). https://archive.is/5ioh8

She was a rare voice of sanity there. I hope this doesn't mean the NYT will be even more trans activist in their articles and op-eds. Today they were promoting some play about a Hasidic AGP.

Today they were promoting some play about a Hasidic AGP.

Note to fellow Jews: pandering to this bullshit won't make the progressive leftists any less antisemitic. Just stop

She's such a loss for the NYT. The state of journalism is so despairing.

I was editing my post but before I could submit it, they closed the comments. Already :( Wow....

I'm sad to see her go. I enjoyed her columns.

Thanks for your voice Pamela.

I do not understand why we are not listening to her: > which had by then become a forum that could lead journalists to mistake the loudest voices for the most legitimate or to temper their positions so as to avoid social media blowback. The list of social media vortexes today includes not only Twitter’s successor, X, but also Bluesky, Threads, Reddit and countless other online forums. I did not want my positions to be unduly guided by what others might think, be they friends or strangers, office colleagues or online trolls, activist organizations or institutional powers. And the lure of affirmation can be just as potent as the fear of attack.>

The medium will ALWAYS be the message. Ovarit offered an outside to all this--yet another reason to celebrate it. But, also, a strong reason to stick with only forums that are owned and operated by women, for women (and allies, sure), but all the SM businesses she names here are hurting women. I don't understand how we can act like they don't. Please do not support these businesses (e.g., close your account and get other feminists off of them as well). I stand with Pamela Paul. These SM outlets are leading the convo, swaying MSM and costing women livelihoods--if not outright lives (think TiFs). We are letting the algorithm kill feminism (and women, just look at recent history/incels). The algorithm is misogyny and femicide. PP has warned us.

So you want them to have no pushback? If we all leave these sites, it just makes it look like they have universal agreement about trans BS.

I guess I lean separatist as a radical feminist. I just cannot tolerate the idea of being part of anything that abuses and berates women. In the SM wars, women will never win. Men are just louder--and they control the medium/algorithm. It is set up for us to fail. I'll take separatism and the few weighted words out there, like JKR. Women deserve safe spaces in all things, including SM. When things like ovarit and clovenhooves exist, I see no reason to go into male-controlled territories rather than support women-owned and operated spaces. basically, 4b SM, where it is needed the most these days.
