Of the myriad reasons that I’m angry at the mainstream Left for their stance on trans ideology and ultimate abandonment of women, the fact that they’ve forced me to be on the side of Drumpf and MAGA republicans on this (or any!) issue is arguably the unkindest cut of them all.

It's so frustrating. Like watching a basketball game in which one team just stands and yells that the other team has the ball!

You going to go get it? Or maybe... try?

NO! BUT THEY HAVE THE BALL! We just have to watch and see what they do with it and then we'll complain more about how they have the ball!

It's like watching the Washington Generals rehearse the famous "ladder play" with the Harlem Globetrotters.

When ideology is prioritized over scientific merit, that threatens the entire scientific enterprise

Well, if it isn’t the pot calling the kettle black.

Research suggests that access to these procedures can reduce anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation in transgender people.

Long term research? Nope. Let’s talk about all the FTM who have been committing suicide.

What about all the FTM (edit) who die from complications from totally unnecessary procedures? They don't even get to live long enough to regret it.

overanddoneApril 4, 2025

Perhaps. I don’t pay close attention to MTF. It’s FTM that concern me.

I_am_TuffTerfiesApril 4, 2025

sorry, that is what I meant. Hadn't had my morning coffee.

overanddoneApril 4, 2025

Ah. Sorry. Then I agree with you. It’s all concerning, not just the suicides.

TRAs excuse it by saying, "So what if this trans-man died of complications from his bottom surgery and testosterone abuse at age 25? It he hadn't been given gender affirming care, he would have killed himself when he was fifteen! So he got ten extra years of life!"

These include “regret and detransition following social transition as well as chemical and surgical mutilation of children and adults” and “outcomes from children who have undergone social transition and/or chemical and surgical mutilation”, the e-mail says.

I'd like to point out to all the lurkers here that the medical transition industry has REFUSED to track data on regret or even general detrans rates of their own patients. As far as these "doctors" are concerned, if one of their patients wants to detrans or has regret after their mutilation they're on their own. If a patient comes to them seeking support to detrans or has regret they get shown the door and it is not even noted in their file so they can maintain their "tiny regret rate" lie. Putting your fingers in your ears and squeezing your eyes shut doesn't mean they don't exist. Your industry has completely failed, ignored, and vilified the vulnerabile young people who inevitably regret what you've convinced them to do. I hate Trump with a passion but this is yet another example of why he got elected and that is to undo the damage your sick ideology has done to our society - especially our children. I'm sure every trans "doctor" is shaking in their boots at the thought of having to actually recognize, track, and support the people who regret the mutilation they've done. But that is what any real medical professional would do and what they should have been doing all this time.

I actually wonder if 'regret' is even the best word to use. Many openly feel like they've been lied to, and sold a bill of goods. "Regret" insinuates a level playing field, as if all things were equal, as if transitioning and not transitioning are presented as equally valid options. None of this is true.

There is a great tagline in an X-File episode: "deceive, inveigle, and obfuscate". This is what happens to these YOUNG people, esp. These words are particularly apt in this context.

Any report that shows trans regret will be considered false or biased and considered unworthy of review.

Shot_DunyunApril 4, 2025

Uh, there's no such thing as transgender regret. I went and looked on Reddit which is like the headquarters of being trans and there's no trans regret at all.

"It’s really pigeonholing trans people into this medical lens where the only thing important to know about them is that they seek medical transition” and regret it,

This is like saying, "this study is pigeonholing cancer patients into a medical lens where the only important thing to know about them is whether or not they regret taking this experimental medication that made their kidneys explode"

Uh....yeah. that's the point of a medical study. I don't need to know about the patients' whole life stories. I just need to know how they were impacted by the treatment/medications. Furthermore, if some people took the experimental medication and their kidneys didn't explode, that's great! But we still need to acknowledge the people harmed by the experimental treatment so we can figure out how effective it is overall

says Harry Barbee, who studies the health of people from gender and sexual minorities (LGBT+) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, and identifies as non-binary and queer.

Of course he's non-binary and queer

"When ideology is prioritized over scientific merit, that threatens the entire scientific enterprise.”

Scientific merit? Like the scientific merit of magical gender souls in one's heart that override a person's biological sex?

So ... how is there money for this?

Um, yes. So, you get it then?

Any study they out out will be accused of being "right wing" even if legit. So round and round we go.
