I’m not much of a tv watcher but from January to March, I tend to binge watch tv and catch up on video games.
What are you watching, reading, or playing? (It doesn’t have to be gay)
Two minor characters are lesbians- I had no idea going into the show
Drova- (Switch) “pixel art Action-RPG inspired by the grim dark classics of the genre and the mystical allure of Celtic mythology.” I haven’t been playing very long but I like it so far.
How to Talk to Anyone: 92 Little Tricks for Big Success in Relationships- I’m an introvert in an extrovert world. The book is a little dated but it has some good tips here and there
I’m reading through the A Court of Thorn and Roses series. I enjoy it quite a bit. Normally I balk at books with romantic elements. It has a bunch of wonderfully complex female characters, and it’s a nice distraction from life.
It tackles a lot of relatable issues which are familiar to all women. Abusive relationships, the cultural brutal oppression of females that certain cultures inflict, being valued only for their breeding abilities, and a character which comes out as a lesbian. Watching the female protagonist grow into a powerful woman is quite nice. Plus fairies.
A Court of Thorns and Roses pops up in my Audible recommendations from time to time. Maybe one day I’ll check it out. Thank you!
Of course! I’ve been listening and I enjoyed the woman narrating on audible. The first book is free. I enjoyed it as a radical feminist. And it was recommended by one of my best female friends who’s also a feminist.
What I really enjoy is the journey it takes you the reader on. The first book is fantastic for setting the stage and building the world, and the second book is where the journey really starts getting interesting.
I don’t want to spoil anything. But I really enjoyed how it incorporated a lot of themes and challenges females everywhere face in a fantasy world and watching her overcome and grow. Even when it’s rough.
There is a female character in the second book whom I absolutely ADORE and was so delighted upon meeting her. She’s mouthy like me.
Even one of the most unlikable female character in the series I still find endearing even if she’s entirely unpleasant.
So the protagonist is straight. And while she receives help from the male romantic interests (there’s more than one) she isn’t saved and dependent upon the males in the story. Which i appreciate the most.
I gag when the story centers around making a female character completely dependent upon the male romantic love interest.
