Some data analysis for fun:

  1. March was the second largest month of growth in the user base (20% increase in users), probably due to spreading the word in the wake of "Super Straight". Largest month was December (29% increase in users), which was the month of the Atlantic Article.

  2. The last time a new circle was added was December.

  3. Largest circles (by life-to-date posts): GenderCritical, WomensLiberation, Radfemmery, Women, Translogic

  4. Smallest circles (by life-to-date posts): Vegan, Gardening, Fitness, DetransWomen, LovingWomen

  5. New posts in March (4,478) increased by 49% over February (3,016). This "growth" is almost entirely attributable to one user, courage2courage, who posted approximately 1,095 this month, or an average of 36 posts per day (is it a bot?). This explains why Comments only increased by comparatively less (12% since last month) and total votes increased by only 25%.

  6. Despite that, March was still the best month for readership from unique IPs (45,700, vs December - 34,000).

Hello! No, I am not a bot nor do I self-ID as one. Just a woman looking for interesting things to post here.

To add a different opinion, I think most of what you post is interesting and helps to create discussion on different topics here

I feel the same as georgiaomeuf. I have noticed the name courage2courage not because of volume of posts (which I hadn't noticed) but because of how interesting and constructive the posts are. I don't feel there should be a limit on daily posts. There should be a limit on posting stuff that's not helpful but the mods already do a great job of keeping things on point here.

Edit: having read the threads SamuraiGhostCat links to I can see how this is a problem for some. I can see both sides. Personally it doesn't bother me but I totally respect that others may feel differently. Perhaps I am just interested in the same sort of stuff as courage2courage. Maybe we should have a new circle for courage2courage! (joke!)

I appreciate your posts -- to my mind it's like "library-building." They bring in a range of topics we'd not normally be able to see. Once here, they're searchable and can be revisited.

Don’t you think you should be more selective in posting or at least space them out more? I don’t mean to offend, it’s just that quite a few women have been complaining about it here. 1 2

I think there should be a daily post limit, personally.

You are not a moderator or an admin and this is inappropriate.

It is up to users which circles the subscribe to or block. It us up to moderators to determine what content is allowed in their circles and it is up to admins what content is allowed on the site.

If you don't like how a circle is being run, you can bring it up with the moderators. They can act on your request or not.

It is not your place to tell people how to post or comment on the site.

Some circles are intentionally collecting as many points of data as possible on certain topics as "libraries" or collection resources. Not all circle are primarily discussion circles. That is up to the moderators.

They respond, but sometimes at night in the USA the new page gets super depressing with VAWG posts. I counted 23 consecutive posts one night and 20 the next from them. Important work, but it's like a dump of sadness onto Ovarit for sure.

Yeah. I felt bad handing out Ovarit invites because I think people will be repelled from the site if they see so much news about men’s violence toward women & girls. Of course one can block the circles, but new users probably don’t know about the feature. I told a woman to block the NameTheProblem and ThisNeverHappens circles in advance. :/

I try to find stuff for good news for women or take a plant picture hehe. I appreciate the cataloging but it is genuinely distressing when two pages of "new" is a horror fest.

Most of the depressing or triggering receipts/library circles are not default circles. Users are not automatically subscribed to them and they don't show up on ovarit.com for users who aren't signed in. I made /o/TerfIsASlur a default before the Atlantic hitpiece came out so some onlookers might see the other side, but I've been meaning to take it off the default list.

We made this site in large part to host these resource circles. Users who don't like them can block them. Users who contribute to them are appreciated and it's inappropriate for users to try to change their behavior or otherwise bully them. Moderators determine what is permissible and we expect moderators to handle such issues with more grace and less public shaming than some users have demonstrated here.

Yessss the stats are out, this is unironically one of my favorite days of each month.

For an invite only forum, not too shabby! Let’s keep those numbers growing ladies :)

Any guesses as to why we’ve roughly doubled this month’s new user sign ups as compared to January and February?

Word was spread about Ovarit on Reddit, Super Straight happened, then the Aimee Challenor/Aimee Knight thing happened.

This. I got invited by someone on Reddit after Super Straight happened. I'd been casually lurking here after the GC sub got banned, but Super Straight was what pushed me to ask for an invite when I came across people giving them out.

I joined this month (last week, in fact, but I was lurking for quite a while before that).

I wonder if we are actually reaching critical mass and it could snowball (in our favour) from here. For me, it was because I had direct experience of women's rights being rolled back at work due to TRAs steamrolling women and policing language in maternity policies. This threw me onto Twitter but I found that way too toxic but it was good because I noticed all the Ovarit posts.

I think there is a storm brewing, here in the UK at least, with TRAs taking over higher education, rape culture being exposed on an unprecedented scale, women's VAWG protests facing police brutality, self-ID being pushed more and more, cancelled feminists being re-platformed (thank you Cambridge RadFems), and word is spreading....

I think and hope we will find more and more women waking up.

I also suspect that as more Ovarit users Level Up to where they are able to generate invite codes, the site will begin to grow more exponentially, rather than linearly. So, im thinking one of these days we gonna explode in number.

Of course, there’s only so many rad-fem leaning women out there so maybe we’ll hit some kind of wall after that.

Idk, im not no mathematician or rocket scientist so someone please set me straight if my predictions here are wrong!

P.S., i unlocked the ability to generate 60 invite codes when i hit level 7 (i think it was level 7?). Does anyone know if we unlock the ability to generate more invite codes at some future level or is 60 the max?
