Let's assume this really happened. I doubt the two women fell silent because they felt ashamed or something like that but because they didn't want to argue with a guy who was ranting at them out of nowhere.

Having said that, I doubt this happened. One, the initial dialogue makes absolutely no sense. If anything, women would probably lament that men have it easier, but I really, really doubt they'd bring up TIMs when talking about expenses. It just doesn't ring true. Two, that speech sounds way too elaborate to have been spontaneous, not to mention the dramatic finishing of the drink and theatrically walking out the door.
