This is a general interest discussion community for women. Women can discuss most topics here. Rants, raves, interesting links, career advice, relationship advice, hobbies, interests, chit chat, pet pics, as long as you're a woman and it's not disallowed below it's all free to go here.
Our goal is to provide a friendly and supportive space for the women of Ovarit. This circle is not a "safe space," but it is and will always be a female-only space. This means if you are not female, you will be banned.
This circle is not for general politics or election topics - arguments about politics do not fit within this circle’s mission. This is not a debate circle.
Before posting, please check the list below of other women-only circles to make sure there isn't a community that is dedicated to the topic. Also, please use the feminist circles for feminist topics, such as /o/WomensLiberation and /o/GenderCritical. Posts about male violence belong in /o/NameTheProblem. This circle is not for news about violence.
If any part of your text / link post is about trans, post it to o/GenderCritical. Trans related image posts go in o/TransLogic or o/Radfemmery.
If you post about trans topics in o/Women your post may be locked and / or deleted. We cannot move posts around.
This is a friendly and supportive community for general topics which are not contentious. Posts which start arguments, or which devolve into arguments in the comments, are extremely likely to be removed. This is a friendly and supportive general chat community, not a debate or argument board.

/o/Fitness: a women-only community to talk about personal fitness
/o/Lesbians: a lesbian-only community
/o/LovingWomen: a community for all women who love, are attracted to, and engage in relationships with women
/o/DetransWomen: a community for female detransitioners and desisters
Karen, Becky, Stacy, Felicia... I notice all these memes with female names are popular to use as society thinks poorly of women and people like to instantly label them with utter contempt for maximum upvotes on preddit. God forbid a woman voices disagreement, has her own personal hobbies, dating standards or asks for anything...
The only male name meme used often is Chad and that has positive connotations with some people, go figure. If you point out the sexism of using Karen/etc as an insult people will give bs about how there's male equivalents (that no one ever uses) so it's totally equal!
I believe this all started in the incel communities calling people beckys and chads. How on earth did everyone start going along with incels!?
My theory is because all men can relate to incels. Even if they've had some level of experience with women and not actual incels they have all experienced rejection at some point of their lives which is unacceptable to their fee-fees. Male entitlement is one hell of a drug.
The amount of messed up stuff in the world terrifies me. There’s just so much collective gas lighting. We live in a sick society. It’s like the internet has brought about end-stage patriarchy symptoms. I have never been able to have children, and sometimes I am really glad to not be raising a child in this truly confused world.
Same here, I cannot justify bringing a child into this messed up world either. Mothers are very brave to do so as it is a perpetual uphill battle but I myself do not have the strength to bear with it. I think the horrible sexism was always out there, but the internet is this mass accumulator that draws like-minded people together so the horrible things they write is exposed for all to see. Also, since the internet is anonymous they are able to write the disgusting things that they have been thinking all along without social repercussion - it's like being able to see into their ugly souls.
Inceldom was actually started by women too (femcels) and they weren't that bad (they were somewhat toxic but not nearly as toxic as male incels).
Becky and Karen both started in the Black community. As with most things, other people caught on and started using it in whatever way they wanted (to disparage women in general, in this case). Black women have been using "Becky" long before Reddit existed.
Thank you for telling me! What about stacys?
No problem! I'm not sure about Stacey, I've never heard a POC refer to any group of women as "Stacey", that one may have originated from men in general.
