DiscussionWhy I'll never care about men's mental health as an issue

There are definitely quite a few issues that I care about actively: for example, climate change and homophobia, to list just two of them. But "men's mental health" is not one of them.

Of course, I care about the mental health of individual men in my life that I like and care about. But when I see pickmes on Twitter and TikTok going on about "the men's mental health crisis" and "Johnny Depp's mental health after he was abused by evil Amber Heard" I just find myself rolling my eyes and asking: "Why do you care? Why do you spend energy thinking about this?"

I know it sounds callous but the thing is, why do women waste so much of their time campaigning for men's issues when men would never return the favour? It is extremely rare to see a man online actually care about women's issues. I don't count the few men I saw speaking out about Roe v Wade because they all talked about "birthing persons" and "uterus havers" and "trans people", not women specifically.

When men call themselves "male feminists" the only issues they go on about are things that men benefit from specifically, such as legalising prostitution. The very few times I have seen men actually address the shit women go through, without fail other men start calling them "simps" or "white knights".

To me, this is the proof you need to show that men do not give a shit about the wellbeing of women as a whole. The fact that they call men who stand up for us "simps" shows that the majority of men are only ever nice to use if they want sex. THEY DON'T ACTUALLY CARE.

If men cared about women's mental health like the pick mes cared about men's mental health, they would all collectively make misogyny uncool. They wouldn't call men simps for defending women; they'd call men losers for being creepy sexists. They'd collectively agree to end the sexual violence epidemic, and agree to stop objectifying women. In the UK, 97% of women have received at least sexual harassment. 97% of women have experienced something that makes your mental health worse.

Personally, I can say that my mental health worsened every time I've been harassed or abused. Every time I go on Reddit and see that there are 10k subreddits dedicated to degrading and objectifying women ("transwomen" excluded, of course) I receive psychic damage.

So that's why I don't care about men's mental health. Until they start returning the favour (which I doubt will ever happen because they're pornsick and don't see us as human) I'll never waste my time campaigning for this shit. I scroll past any post to do with men's mental health. I'm not saying I want their mental health to be bad, but I just do not care.

If you Google "men's mental health" around 1.7 billion results come up. When you Google "women's mental health" only around 560 million results come up. This says everything. Men's mental health is an issue that gets discussed enough already. Hell, they already have an entire month dedicated to it ("Movember"). Pick mes, stop wasting your time and actually start campaigning for an issue that isn't defended enough.
