Male Allies on Ovarit and Entitlement
Super Straight has brought a lot of "as a man" posts to Ovarit.
Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, I don't know. But I feel strongly about it.
I just can't imagine signing up and inserting myself into a small community like Ovarit if I were a man. We have created, from scratch, a women's community to center women. We have been run off of and maligned by men on every major platform of discussion. Ovarit was created to be a space by women, for women. Its very name refers to our anatomy.
I just, can't understand the thought process of thinking that it's reasonable and appropriate for men to go through the hoops to sign up and then to insert themselves into conversations on this site. The absolute entitlement that demonstrates in the "male allies" who join. Maybe GC men would drive our numbers up, but at what fucking cost? How easy-going and welcoming are we going to be? How many times are we going to build communities for women by women and leave the door cracked for men?
We are fifty percent of the human fucking population! Why are we never, ever allowed to have WOMEN ONLY has a hard rule?
She can write an e-mail to the admins and ask for an invite. That's what I did :)
I think you have to be a member here for a certain amount of time and be active to get invite codes.
