This is a minor subject but it is driving me absolutely mad. The fact that hairdressers are allowed to discriminate against women by charging us more for the same haircuts. Is it the case everywhere or did some countries manage to fix this?
I have short hair + a strong undercut (essentially a "manbun" style) but if I go to a salon to refresh it, I would pay the "female price" - never less than 20€, usually more than 30. Meanwhile my brother goes to a barber and has his hair done for 10€.And this is not a matter of haircut style (there are supplements for long hair) but of sex. This is simply discrimination based on sex.
The fact that is most upsetting me is that this has been going on forever and is legal, while based discrimination against men (making young men pay more for car insurance because they statistically have more accidents) was deemed illegal and forbidden. The sheer sexism of banning one practice and not the other!
