DiscussionFamine is a feminist issue

When a population is starving to death, whether because of inequalities in the food distribution system, corruption in local and national politics, gangsterism, or acts of war, women bear the brunt.

Women eat less so that elders, spouses, and (especially) children can eat. Women are forced into prostitution for food. Women have miscarriages and stillbirths because their bodies cannot support pregnancy. Women have no milk to feed the babies they give birth to, and have to watch them die. Women are unable to feed their older children, and, starving themselves, have to see them starve to death.

Famine is male violence, not exclusively against women and children, but women and their children are te hardest hit.
