Feminism is the movement to liberate women from patriarchy.
We stand up for the rights of women as a sex-class. Women have a right to bodily autonomy and to set their own boundaries and have them respected. We resist efforts to limit women's reproductive autonomy. We condemn the men who exploit and abuse women in prostitution and pornography. We oppose all harms and forms of exploitation of women and girls, regardless of whether or not they're sold as "choice" or re-framed as "empowering." We oppose the movement to redefine "women" in a way that erases the realities of our lives and makes organizing for our liberation as a sex-class impossible.
"In the radical feminist view, the new feminism is not just the revival of a serious political movement for social equality. It is the second wave of the most important revolution in history. Its aim: the overthrow of the oldest, most rigid class/caste system in existence, the class system based on sex – a system consolidated over thousands of years, lending the archetypal male and female roles an undeserved legitimacy and seeming permanence." –Shulamith Firestone, The Dialectic of Sex
Do any of these countries actually ASK women why they don't want marriage or kids? And when women do tell them-do any actually LISTEN & act on it? Part of it is male attitudes. Changing that is hard. But there are things govts. can do to react constructively or put in place help according to what women say they need.
They just tell women they're selfish.
Most women want a partner. Most women want kids. These are natural instincts. An even bigger instinct is to avoid misery.
So if women are avoiding marriage and children, why is the misery avoidance instinct so powerful?
I’m not sure why you’re being downvoted. Most people (men + women) absolutely want a partner. Kids is more up in the air but even then, I think most people want them too. Doesn’t mean you’re a freak if you don’t or that it shouldn’t be an option.
Some sisters here think that there is no natural instinct to reproduce or have sex, and it's all just propaganda. There are some women that genuinely don't want children. More than you'd think. But they STILL are not the majority of humanity. Most humans want romantic partners. Most humans want to reproduce. All in the animal kingdom that reproduce sexually mostly do.
So if huge chunks of the female population are opting out of the instinctual default of partnering and reproducing, that's always on the males. They are the leaders and decision makers. There simply aren't enough females in leadership positions to be at fault for this.
The CCP didn't do near enough to make China a good place for women. Now they are paying the price.
