QuestionDo any online groups exist that organize how to report rulebreaking hateful misogynistic content that violates the code of conduct of social media platforms?

I have been coming across upsetting misogynistic violent content against women on certain large social media websites that violates the code of conduct of those sites, but when I’ve tried to report those rulebreaking posts, comments, or groups, my reports end up ignored by the administrators of those sites. I know I’m not the only person reporting some of those posts, yet they still stay up.

I was wondering, do any online groups exist that organize and discuss how to report rulebreaking hateful misogynistic/pornographic content online? I know that a certain subreddit exists for reporting hate subs, but I don’t feel comfortable using reddit to discuss the hateful misogynistic groups that I’m disturbed by, since admins there seem to have a habit of banning female users that report pornographic hate subreddits and misogynistic posts. What are spaces or groupchats are out there for feminists to discuss this issue?

We need our own billionaire to buy a large social media space where every whiff of misogyny, pornography and child grooming is permabanned.

I wish there was a way to get all the sexualised OF "yoga" videos off of youtube shorts. I report them but they just keep appearing. I've also reported Jonathon Saccone-Joly many times for the blatant child abuse of his poor poor son, but sadly no one takes any notice. That poor little boy makes me feel so sad. I wish social services would get involved.

I report that page all the time, and all those other videos from family vloggers that feature their children too heavily and in appropriate ways. They never get taken down. It’s really sad to see so many kids by peeing exploited by their parents online.

Omg right?

Who’s this Jonathon guy? Is he a run of the mill family vlogger (who almost all exploit their kids nonstop) or is he worse?

He's worse. He's literally groomed his son to be trans. The boy is now not in mainstream school and is at home constantly making videos with his dad. One of the most recent ones was of his (10 year old) boy dressed in a crop top and mini skirt talking about going on his first date - the little boy speaks as if he has been brainwashed by a stereotypical female influencer. It's so so sad. The parents say of course the boy can choose if he doesn't want to be trans anymore, but how can a little boy who's been groomed to think he's really a girl and has been heavily rewarded in attention from his dad now say he doesn't want to be trans? He's been groomed to now find it very difficult once he starts puberty and I dread to think what interventions the parents will try and get him. That whole family worries me. The mum has had extensive plastic surgery to "help" with her body image troubles, even though she has a history of anorexia, so that's really not a good example for her daughters. And the eldest daughter wears pretty adult clothing on videos (as a 12 year old) and I dread to think of the pedo men watching her. I try not to look at their channel as I don't want to be part of what's giving them money, but their stuff showed up on my feed the other day and it's just awful.

Oh wow you weren’t kidding, I looked him up and read some reddit pages etc, and watched just a few of their short videos… all those poor kids! Those parents are definitely worse than the typical family vloggers (which is already bad enough 💀)

I don't know about other social media but Reddit has r/banfemalehatesubs that is dedicated to getting the violent and misogynistic subs taken down.

Gray [OP]October 21, 2024

That’s the only good subreddit I know of that does this! But I worry about it getting taken down one day. The TRAs and MRAs seem to frequently brigade there. I hope they have some sort of a back up group somewhere on discord or something

You could check out r/banfemalehatesubs. There is a list of how to report on various platforms on the wiki.

Thank you! I didn’t notice the wiki earlier!

Ive been trying to report comments and posts on Facebook and Instagram for hate speech, bullying, harassment, or violence when it's misogyny but it's rare that anything comes of it. I have been thinking of asking if anyone on ovarit has had better luck than me, or if numbers matter in reporting at all.

RecycledPopcornOctober 21, 2024(Edited October 22, 2024)

Yeah, I came up against a misogynistic ad on Instagram the other day, reported it but nothing came of it. They just said I personally wouldn't see it again 🤡

TheChaliceIsMightierOctober 21, 2024

If more and more women report it and don't want to see it, I'd like to think they'd take a hint and stop showing it entirely but I doubt they'd ever stop showing it to men or that men would ever report it.

Maybe that is part of my problem. I generally don't fill in my sex, because i really don't like heel, makeup, etc ads targeted to women. Although, honestly with Ublock Origin i see very few ads.

Yeah, same, I gave up on facebook and instagram since I just don’t use either platform much any more, but I have been coming across some really upsetting misogynistic stuff on reddit, youtube, twitter, and tumblr that definitely breaks their rules from what I’ve noticed when reading over each site’s terms and conditions, but it seems so arbitrary on what actually gets taken down.

That’s why I’m hoping that some discord or other private group exists for the purpose for reporting online misogyny, racism, violence, and other hate, since I think having larger numbers definitely make a difference!
