There are multiple women in UK prisons who have been guilty of.........self defense.

The problem with women who kill their attackers is people have a very stupid and misogynistic understanding of self-defense. They believe that self-defense should be proportional, and not what is necessary to save your life. If you are being attacked, you should have a gentleman's boxing match and keep going until the authorities arrive. Using a knife if the other chap doesn't have one is unfairsies.
This, of course, is goofy. Especially if you are a woman. Self-defense is about survival, not sportsmanship. Women's fists are largely ineffective. It is more likely that, in order to avoid further attack and possible death, you will need a weapon. A heavy object, a gun, or a knife.
The drawback of weapons is that they are more likely to cause death than a woman's fists alone.
That's unfortunate for men who are not quick enough to disarm a woman, but is that our fault?
We also think that victims, particularly women, are honor bound to increase their own risk of death to decrease the risk for their attackers.
I'll admit this isn't entirely aimed at women.
The recent Chris Kaba flap would be Exhibit A of how many Brits think that self-defense and defense of others should not be recognized under law.
When I looked into the Chris Kaba case I was really shocked that BLM in the UK even picked this one up. It's the most unsympathetic death-by-cop story I've ever heard. The US BLM chapters all would have pretended to not have heard of this one. Even among the most frothing-at-the-mouth Antifas American can't feel bad for a man who was trying to run people over with his SUV.
In Britain, however, I'm seeing plenty of otherwise intelligent people insist that Chris Kaba shouldn't have been shot. The cops should have waited for him to crash his car or something, catch him later, and ensure that he received a fair trial for anyone that died. Whatever it takes, just don't "execute" him. When I tried to explain that he was trying to run people over with an SUV, I got a lot of "WELL HE DIDN'T DESERVE TO DIE." Personally I thought his potential victims deserved to live. So I'm not saying that our criminal-sympathetic culture doesn't negatively affect men now and then.
However, I think it's important to note that British women in prison for self-defense are invisible. The cop ultimately was acquitted, but many women aren't so lucky. Anti-prison activists have a laundry list of ideas of how Chris Kaba could have learned the true meaning of Christmas before it was too late. But they don't have anything to say at all about women who killed their male abusers.
There are no women in black berets and sunglasses talking to the press. There are no men shouting they demand change or else. There are no famous athletes kneeling during sports games. There are no politicians saying "we see you, we hear you."
Nope. We're getting nothing.
The UK is dumping dangerous male prisoners to ease overcrowding, but I haven't heard of women being released in noticeable numbers. If any. This is very curious. If you wanted to ease the prison budget, releasing the women makes far more sense. We have much lower recidivism, and are much easier to rehabilitate. Why all the men?
Don't let anyone fool you that women get treated with kid gloves in court. We really don't. And effective female activists tend to squander their talents on men. Men always benefit from both conservative and progressive policies, and we have to work with scraps.
Personally, I'm done with women whose activism centers men.
I'd like to see more agitation for women like Lea Rose Cheng.
