I’ve received a phone call from South Yorkshire Police tonight about my reporting on X. They’ve asked me to delete posts and not to report on Rotherham professionals moving forward even though they’re no reporting restrictions on the case. I’d like to add, the information I’ve reported came directly from South Yorkshire Police over 6 months ago. It’s also been in the public domain for over 6 months. I’d also like to add the police officer didn’t really have a clue what was going on.
Some people on Ovarit have decided my focus on this is "downright spammy" when I'm actually deeply distressed about the girls of my country. The girls that still send treats to my children. The ones that overcame so much hardship. The women of my family that moved past alcoholism, violence, and classism to lead better lives. Sorry feeling very strongly about this wild nightmare comes across as spammy. It's easy to ignore something that is far away from you and outside your experience, or is just not a topic you've really looked into.
But the estimates of British girls having been attacked by rape gangs ranges from 250,000 to 1 million.
What is happening to Sammy Woodhouse right now is why I think a national inquiry was necessary.
I don't care if Labour views it as a Tory publicity stunt.
I don't care if it IS a Tory publicity stunt.
People have been calling for it for a long time.
And if parliament had voted for one, I don't think this would have happened to Sammy. This police officer was mostly likely emboldened, under the orders of whatever Rotherham villain, to contact her and bully her after the inquiry was denied. The news of no national inquiry cleared the way for him or her to do that. Had they voted for a national inquiry, the police officer would have been more likely to refuse, for fear of his or her name surfacing in it.
I know "chilling effect" has negative connotations to it, but in this circumstance it would be helpful. It means no one in any of the cities could count on it all staying local. They couldn't rely on some sleazy council members protecting them in an "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" deal.
While Sammy Woodhouse records every phone call from these shit heads, clearly they don't care. It's still obviously in their favor to intimidate her. Whatever local inquiry took place has done bugger all.
So to all the people who want this done only on condition of spiritual purity at every level: stop. Stop waiting for Jesus Christ's nicer brother to step in. I don't care if people like Elon Musk, who don't know every single detail about how the UK parliament operates, is ridiculing them on Twitter. Plenty of UK voters may not know every single detail, but I don't think they need to.
CLEARLY SOMETHING IS NOT WORKING HERE.
The expense is not a reason to deny a national inquiry.
The time is not a reason to deny a national inquiry.
The need to punish Tories is not a reason to deny a national inquiry.
The need to send a message to Elon Musk is not a reason to deny a national inquiry.
British girls being raped by Muslim rape gangs is bigger than all of that combined.
Even if a national inquiry doesn't fully work, we should be throwing everything we can at this phenomenon. If it means some people are fired and others put in jail, that's still progress. That's still a stark warning to both rapists and collaborators: you're putting everything you hold dear on the line for this. Are you sure you want to proceed?
I'm also going to take the time here to remind everyone that Islam is not a race. There are Pakistani Christians, Sikhs, and Hindus, who are not attacking white British girls. So for those of you that are handwringing about racism, you can breathe easy. And maybe look through your own old writings about Christian fundamentalism and the Catholic Church, and how you made no excuses for their theological teachings about women. If you made no excuses there, you don't have to make excuses here.
Push for a national inquiry. The benefit of it is that sleazy local politicians won't be holding the reins anymore. It will be outside them.
Patterns will emerge, and yes, likely communications, too. It's likely we'll uncover networks.
We need a criminal investigation, really, but if an inquiry at least produces data, so be it.
But the REAL benefit is the likely "chilling effect" it will have on local officials who currently have nothing to fear. If they don't want their names to crop up at the national level, then they'd have a good reason to cut the shit immediately.
And the first person who comes here to say the cop was just doing his or her job and didn't have a choice in the matter: go jump in a pile of horse shit. I don't believe that. He or she could have refused to do it. They could have said "there's no point because it's already in the public domain, and just adds more bad publicity to you. Streisand Effect and all that."
British girls are worth it. Even if they are poorly educated, council flat dependent, having babies out wedlock, dress like "slags" or whatever makes you turn your nose up at them.
They're actually human beings. Human beings that love, that dream, that help each other, that have compassion, that suffer pain, that need your help.
Unless we really are the Luxury Belief Feminists that right wingers accuse us of being, who are only interested in well paid careers and prestigious achievement. Privileged women who will sell out lower class women at the drop of a hate, so long as it's fashionable.
That's not radical feminism, right? Right? We're not about looking good to anyone, and we should the liberation and dignity of females over the fussy feelings of men, right? That's us?
If you're more concerned about racial tensions, then do whatever you have to to stamp out the phenomenon so trust can be rebuilt between these communities. That might require a little bit of frankness and honesty that we're not used to. It might mean some traditional leftist narratives fall apart. But it will pay off in the long run. Muslims who can't take the reality will fuck off, but those who want to stay will move forward. For them, there's the possibility of returned peace and trust.
As feminists, I think we shouldn't put down any red line for the protection of females.
Not one man will die if he doesn't get to rape an 11 year old girl. It will not save one child from cancer if a man does not get to rape an 11 year old girl. Not one fairy will crumple out of existence if a man does not get to rape an 11 year old girl. Raping 11 year old girls does not prevent hurricane damage, does not ensure the crops will grow, or stop the spread of COVID.
Girls cannot be our sacrificial lambs for political kvetching and peevish spite. I don't care if the people pushing for a national inquiry now are flawed. I don't even care if the idea of a national inquiry itself is flawed- it will produce something.
Personally, I think Kemi Badenoch is one of the best people we've got right now. Flawed or not.
And I'm putting it on anyone who says "a national inquiry won't do anything" to come up with a substitute in its place that will do better. I'm also insisting you agitate for it. If you're just going to say "nah" and wash your hands of it, then I know you're not serious. It's okay to say it's insufficient, but don't take away what could produce something just so they wind up with nothing.
I'd take it for the threat of a villainous official's name being recorded in the documents alone.
Sammy Woodhouse shouldn't have to live like this. None of the victims should. They should be able to speak their truth and name names.
In her previous tweets, Sammy named the social worker and foster carer that allowed her rapist to go on their vacation where he continued to rape her.
She should be able to say their names. If she lied about them, they can sue her for libel. But she didn't lie. It's the fucking truth. She shouldn't have to stay silent and keep their names out of her mouth. Both these women SHOULD be national news for what they did, and when they turn to their colleagues for help, all of them should be refusing to answer their emails or return their phone calls. The police officer should have felt worried about helping them, not worried about refusing to help.
