DiscussionSubtle red flags for men being pedos, rapists, or both?

So, I've recently come across this comment on the Chump Lady blog: https://www.chumplady.com/should-i-dump-my-partner-who-sexted-a-teenager/#comment-766059

Essentially, the user says that she observed that pedos act aggressive against people they suspect might become a threat to them (e.g. motherly women who might be protective of children) or who are close to, but not exactly in the age bracket they want to perv on, and make people around them very worried about being "too old".

I found this very interesting, as I wouldn't have thought to suspect anything untoward if a man didn't like kids of some ages, and would probably not even notice a man acting aggressively only towards maternal-seeming women but not against less maternal women of the same age. (I mean, being me, I probably wouldn't even notice subtle hostility, but even if it were overt, I'd probably think their personalities clash, which ... well, would be true, but I wouldn't think it so sinister.)

Has anyone observed something similar for rapists of adult women? (Other than the "male feminist" red flag, which sounds counterintuitive, but looking at Neil Gaiman ... probably cannot even be considered subtle anymore.)

Like, stuff even an actual feminist wouldn't think suspicious or not notice in the first place?
