DiscussionPatriarchy Hannah and the Trad Wife Illusion
Posted February 18, 2025 by GreenBeanJean in WomensLiberation

I became aware of Patriarchy Hannah a few days ago. She was a Trad Wife influencer on X, who went by the handle of @harmonizedgrace. Her bio on X reads: Christian. Wife of @whatsgooditsT. Nap apologist. Homeschool mom. Known Party Pooper. Feminists say I'm problematic.

"Hannah" has over 25K followers. She claimed to be a mother to 14 children, some of whom were adopted, as well as a traditionally submissive wife to a husband named "Tony." Yet she still found time to develop an influencer account on X and co-host podcasts with trad men that were not her husband. And a lot of Christian women on X ate it up. It seems some of them even sent her gifts for her children. She seemed the ideal trad wife, someone to aspire to, and proof that a submissive marriage could work and work well.

The problem is, none of it was true. Patriarchy Hannah appears to be an unmarried, unemployed woman—possibly with a criminal record--living with her parents. She piled lies upon lies to create her trad wife persona, and eventually they were uncovered. If you want to see the ins and outs of how her lies were exposed, here’s the main thread.

I don’t want to delve into what she preached to her followers but I do want to point out how shocked many women are that she went to these lengths to lie about who and what she was. Many women appear to be in disbelief, their faith in her shattered. These are women whose entire lives revolve around ‘faith’: faith in a loving god, faith in a loving husband, faith in a system that (falsely) promises that--if you just give up all personal autonomy and put your life completely into a man’s hands—your obedience will be rewarded.

Unfortunately, the self-enforced naivete of these trad wife hopefuls has not turned out to work in their favor this time. They were, in essence, scammed. Of course, on the whole, this was a relatively harmless scam; some women are out a few dollars, others out a friendship. “Hannah” herself appears to have been in it for the dopamine: her latest message, and apology to her followers, reads: I never intended for this account to become as big as it did, and once things started snowballing, I enjoyed the relationships I'd built and didn't know how to put an end to it.

I know that most, if not all, of women on Ovarit understand that the trad wife lifestyle is a key tenet of patriarchy, which itself is a scam of a proportion so large that it changed the course of human history and looks to be the potential downfall of the human race altogether. But there are still women out there that choose naivete, that choose to have faith in a system that has shown itself again and again and again that you will be thrown to the wolves if you do not comply. Hell, even if you do, you are ground meat to this system. We all are. And yet these women are still choosing to believe that someone or something is coming to save them. They choose the illusion. But at least this time, the illusion failed them.

Will this be the start of a personal liberation for some of these women? Or will those who believe in the trad wife life simply double down, blame it on a failure to follow christ “properly,” and pretend the whole thing never happened?

Context: TIF artist painted a bunch of trans / nonbinary people in a cringe art style and TIMs are malding because presumably he didn't depict them as big tiddie anime babes.

Can't imagine what it would be like for an artist to depict your gender in an unflattering, or cringe way

crodishfuck this earthOctober 7, 2024

I love it was made by a TIF. LOVE it.

Again the female sex seeing things more accurately.

CryingInYourInboxOctober 8, 2024

They certainly dont. And it's giving TIMs a little "Male privilege" moment that's rather annoying

Hear me out, I don’t hate it! I’m actually a big fan of this art style, with the minimalist lines and the fashion design vibe. If anything these pictures are flattering, avant-garde, and have an editorial feel.

TIMs can open their wallets and hire someone to draw them in an anime style that wildly exaggerates their most childlike and/or feminine features, or as their fursona or something. That’s always an option. But anyone who wants to know how they look to others needs to be prepared for it not to reflect their exact wishes and desires. If you’re a male built like a brick shithouse, an honestly proportioned image will absolutely reflect that.

I like it too. I don't think I'd be offended if I were a TIM. Well, I guess I would, because it just highlights how TIMs are incapable of seeing themselves as they are, which is men. So of course anything that reveals through the art that are just perfectly normal looking GNC men would bother them.

It's kinda sad that this person can't see the beauty there. But he thinks he's a woman, so fuck him honestly. I have sympathy for people with body dysmorphia, but liars? 'Naw.

Part of being a tim is being perpetually offended

pennygadgetOctober 7, 2024

There is nothing wrong with the art itself (it resembles stuff you'd see in most college galleries). TIMs are just used to shiney, polished anime shit

same, I actually like this art style. it does make you wonder what the TIM subjects of the portraits actually look like irl though.

CryingInYourInboxOctober 8, 2024

Yea I think even this is flattering considering how huge most of them are

faerieberryOctober 7, 2024

I like the art style tbh! The lines and shadows grab your attention and I think it looks cool - avant garde and editorial, as sylviasmushrooms said! Of course the TIMs wouldn’t like it tho LMAO

How dare you represent me as you see me, I wish to be represented the way I see myself in my mind!!

NOOctober 7, 2024

The men are out menning again

RusticTroglodyteOliver Twist MuppetOctober 8, 2024

OMG tims! Art is subjective! Lol

spacykateOctober 8, 2024

I don’t hate the art. I wouldn’t hang on my wall but it’s well done and trendy atm.

RNPhalaropeOctober 8, 2024

Yeah, cry more.

CryingInYourInboxOctober 8, 2024

I don't think they're really even crying tbh. I think they enjoy this. Men never get portrayed negatively in art unless they're explicitly the villain. I think they're reaching hard for art to get offended about because they're doing the poor-tour with womanhood and the fact that it's a TIF artist makes this the perfect scenario for them

RNPhalaropeOctober 8, 2024

Yes, I think you are right. They love being the oppressed, but violent, victim.

GenXerOctober 8, 2024

I wouldn't buy it.

But, I find the interplay of light and shadow and color to be intriguing.

To me it feels like Picasso and Worhol had a bastard love child.
