As much as I dislike beauty pageants, I understand it is a source for women to utilize in order to help them in terms of prize money or as a springboard to help get noticed for careers in acting/modeling.
It pains me that these pageants only enforce the idea of a woman’s value is in her appearance.
But still, even in these antiquated ceremonies that have women putting themselves out there in order to advance their lives have to be taken over by men who are not held to anywhere near the same standard as the women.
This man won because he is a man. What a message to tell all these women who lost. “No matter how hard you starved yourself, practiced whatever talent and invested into this competition to parade yourself according to classic male gaze you will always be under a man.”
We desperately need more opportunities for young women to advance in life that doesn’t involve her physical image. Then we can let the delusional males take over these pageants.

That's what came to mind for me, too. Dude isn't even winning in the "attractive male" category and he's happily taking the judges pity votes (and is probably too self absorbed to realize it).

Nikki has the inverse problem. He has a much prettier face than this guy, but everyone would be pointing out that no woman with his 6’3’’ overweight fridge physique would get that far in a mainstream beauty contest. I don’t even want to imagine the swimsuit competition.

This is petty as hell, but I have this mental list of actors whose work I rarely watch because I find them hard to look at, and Bill Hader is one of them. (Sorry, Bill, I know you're talented) But even he could dress in drag and look more credible as a pageant contestant than this dollar-store Hader knockoff.

What's so weird is, for me it isn't even an issue of "ugly" because there are actors I can watch who I think are even less attractive, but their faces don't set me off the same way as those on my "hard to look at" list. And there are even some who others might find appealing, but I'm like, nope, just can't look at this person for more than a couple minutes at a time.

I don't find him particularly unattractive, he looks quite average to me; and he'd probably look better (imo) without the makeup and contour he's using to try and make his face look more female, but he doesn't look like the winner of a female beauty pageant.
