One of the first comments answers the question as to why TERFs can threaten them with violence but it would be wrong for them to do the same.

...what violence? TERFs don't generally threaten violence. That's kind of a male thing.

I mean, they refer to misgendering and gentle skeptical questions as "literal violence," so their bar for what constitutes a threat is pretty low.

This is it. To them words are 'literal violence', so actual, real violence in return is justified as self defense. Neat trick.

Yeah, they're projecting.

It just astounds me how blatant it is at this point. They seem to honestly believe biological women are prowling the streets waiting to kill them. No, no, it's not the men who are killing women anyway, it's definitely the women.

It's so blatant! That's why I hope anyone who uses Reddit documents it. They act like they're the victims of angry, hateful women, but the most hateful and violent comments I see are from them.

Trans woMEN are men by definition, and everything men have ever said about women is pure projection ; eg, the bizarre notion that men are logical/women are emotional. Puh-leeze. I won't say women never wind up with an arrest and conviction record because emotions made them do something really dumb and really violent, but it seems that for every woman who permanently fucks up her life in a fit of jealous rage, there's a shit-ton of men. Men never seem to remember that anger is an emotion , go figure...

There aren’t terfs on reddit anymore because they get banned immediately. What is that person even talking about?

because TERF to them just means "anybody who doesn't believe in gender" and not "radical feminist who doesn't believe in gender". a good amount are shitty men as well. overt transphobia does often accompany homophobia and misogyny, and we all know what harassment and threats look like from them there.

There is no such thing as transphobia because there is no such thing as trans.

I don't really agree with that. Religions aren't true, but there is still unwarranted hatred towards people because of their belief in them. Gender ideology isn't true, but there are still aggressive males who threaten violence against TIMs.

I have only seen two instances of fantasies of violence against Trans identifying people (from the same person, who is a very popular person the Gender Critical community though and who recently vanished it seems).

Threats of violence and expressions of fantasies of violence are clearly part of Trans culture. Getting away with it is a benefit enjoyed by members of the trans cult. Actual violence is very rare, but it has happened. They are using their Antifa friends for that.

The violent threats thing is so prevalent among youngish leftish socially liberal people. It's all punch a Nazi this, kill a terf that. I'm not fond of Nazis but I'm old enough to know that the only result of punching is getting punched back.

Same people get hysterical at the idea of spanking a child and think asking one to have responsibilities is literal slavery.

I'm not fond of Nazis but I'm old enough to know that the only result of punching is getting punched back.

Which is one more reason these men only want to assault women - it’s not only that they hate us, a lot of them are cowards who wouldn’t risk their own precious hides against other men.

I thought that top comment was hilarious because the tone of it was basically like “WAH why can they threaten us but we can’t threaten them? I know it’s BS, they can all die, but the thing is reddit will close us down if we keep allowing it to be said outright so for the sake of keeping this subreddit we have to sacrifice the very understandable and real desire to threaten anti-trans people women”

That’s essentially what it said. But also as you said LOL the story they tell about “terfs” being threatening is just an emotional memory of the things we say hurting their egos and feelings, which for MEN often feels akin to an actual threat, yes. But the kind of literally violent attacks you see constantly online from trans people, no, it just doesn’t happen at any noticeable scale. I’m sorry that just pointing out someone is a man feels like I’m saying he should get raped and murdered, but the reality is that it’s not the same.

Can I talk about self defense actions against TERFs? Would that be violence?

Yeah. Like when that 22 year old TIM hit the osteoporotic grandmother at speaker’s corner?

Woman: “You’re a man.”

Man: ~punches the woman~

Man: “It was self defense!

[–] ElleGeeBee 13 points Edited

I thought EXACTLY the same thing when I saw that comment. They're already looking for loopholes.

They're EXACTLY like the men who get weirdly heated about being told they shouldn't hit women, and start going down hypotheticals, and view retaliation and self-defense as the same thing. "Well what if she hits me first, then I can punch a woman, right?"

Almost like these misogynistic men have something in common with trans women...

That's scary! I've only ever seen violence from TRAs, not the other way around.

It's actually one of the things that peaked me. I see a lot of it on facebook and reddit. The first time I saw it on fb a TIM made a comment, I looked at his page and he had a comment about a woman neighbor who "misgendered" him and he wrote something like "somebody should go and shoot her". I then kept seeing it on several groups, and then most recently Bryan Fuller, the screenwriter behind Hannibal, American Gods and more, someone I admire for his creativity, responded to a tweet that asked him if he would "punch a terf" and he said that he totally would. I've honestly never seen a gender critical woman wish death or violence on transpeople, here, or the cancelled subreddits, but I see a lot of rape threats, and death almost daily on fb and reddit.

I've never seen or heard any gender critical women talk about violence or death against transpeople either. And it's crazy to me that men think it's ok to punch women who disagree with them.

Please clarify. Will you be reporting expressions of violence from trans people towards the people who want to eradicate us to the police?

Baaaaahahahahahahahahahaha

"ERADICATE" Lololol

It's such a dramatic response to what is essentially them saying, "Hey, stop posting violent shit that you want to do"

They’re trying to save their own skin rather than recognise that advocating for violence against “terfs” (women) is bad. So fucking typical.

First of all, I hate the word "terf." It's 100% a misogynistic slur. I constantly see the term use to degrade, attack, insult, and silence women on Reddit. There has been an uptick in its use. As the mod states, it is now being used on Reddit to call for violence, including shooting people with a gun. We cannot let Reddit get away with hosting threats of violence on their platform. They are a company just like any other. They have an obligation to protect their users from threats of violence. The problem is getting so bad, moderators of transgender subreddits have not only had to acknowledge it, but actively let users know that it is not okay to threaten other people with violence on the site.

If you use Reddit, please continue to document and report this behavior. Reddit has a duty as one of the largest social media platforms to remove and sanction any user that does this. Please archive any posts and report them to admins. If the report comes back that the content did not violate Reddit's content policy, then request another review. This kind of behavior is not ok. You cannot kill someone just because you don't like what they say and Reddit is hosting those threats. They are responsible for them.

reddit is a site that only protects men, they don't protect women at all there are tons of subreddits that promote violence against women, promote human trafficking, rape, harassment and sex tourism and reddit doesn't give a damn.

the only way for reddit to do anything is to sue them or go viral on other platforms.

what trans people are doing here is simply because the threats they keep making to us makes them lose more and more people's support and many people start seeing them for what they are.

I agree. That's why I think we should document those threats. Obviously Ovarit is already doing that and I hope people keep it up. I've used Reddit for a long time. I know how bad the misogyny is, but it really seemed to amp up in a whole new way with all the new gender ideology.

You don’t understand Preddit, where their major $$$ stream comes from, or even the makeup of the top admins. I suspect you never saw the picture of them having lunch that was floating around awhile ago.

Immediately in the comments they also admit this policy only exists because reddit as a platform will shut them down so quick if they allow violence on the sub.

Before anyone comes in here to complain about why it's okay for TERFs and so on to threaten us with violence but we can't: this is a rule that Reddit (the company) takes very, very seriously. If a subreddit is found to have people planning threats of violence against anyone they'll close down the subreddit. No discussion. End of.

Top comment. They haven't developed any kind of self-awareness here about their own terrorism of peaceful women activists. No. They are still pushing the ridiculous lie that we are violent, still justifying the violence against us and they would keep doing it if they could.

Yep, and Reddit is allowing that violence behavior to breed. That's why I think people should document any threatening comments. Don't let the mods or admins just delete them. Reddit admins really need to take some responsibility for the hostile environment they have created for women.

Mmhm, only the very last comment even suggests not threatening violence simply for the sake of not being violent.

Hilarious. It’s clear that they’re not saying it because threatening violence against a group of women is bad. But because it’s against Reddit’s rules. This is to protect the sub, not because they disagree.

Yep and since Reddit doesn't have any rules to protect women explicitly, you have to use the rules they have to point out this misogynistic bullshit.

I doubt very much that it is to protect the sub, if so that sub would already be banned some time ago as it happens to every GC sub that comes out.

I think it's more that people upload that kind of denigrating and threatening comments that they make to other platforms, making trans lose more and more support from the general public, but well that' s just my theory.

You might be onto something. They're sure to have seen the general grumbling from the mainstream public by now.

that first comment shows how out of touch with reality these people are, i have never seen a "terf" advocating for the death of these people, we are simply asking for our sexual rights to be respected, while these are the ones who go to pride with "kill the terfs" slogans.

Exactly. I haven't seen any "terfs" or any other women for that matter calling for the death of trans people. But I have seen numerous calls for violence against terfs or women they deem to be terfs. I don't even know how this go so backwards.

Here's a fun comment:

This subreddit, along with some of the other main trans ones, have been absolutely invaluable resources for me in figuring out how to go about starting transition. It’s no hyperbole at all to say that I wouldn’t be anywhere near as far along without it. I’m sure that’s true for many, many others too.

Remember there's no social contagion or grooming going on guys!

Seeing TRAs use uppercase-CIS as it it was an acronym winds me up even more than seeing regular 'cis'. What do they think it stands for?

'Common Identities Suck'?

'Commoner's Idea of Sex'?

'Chromosomes Indicated Sex'?

'Confederacy of Independent Systems?'...
